After graduating from Pratt Institute with a degree in product design, Pat Kim went in a more organic direction when a woodworker took him under his wing.
Now working out of his Brooklyn studio, he’s still enchanted with the lathe and the shapes it encourages. “I’ll often take a bunch of wood scraps and start turning them just for form exploration,” he says.
The Hew Side Table (2018) derived from those musings. “With wood, I get to basically play all the time.” Variety of shapes available.
